1921 - 1996
This military base was known as a venue for high-tech experiments, as in really-high, high-tech,
or rockets, to be exact. But the history of this base goes far beyond the trajectory of a rocket.
Although it lost its active duty status in 1991, and closed in ‘96, it still serves as a venue for the
training of reserve forces. So the boast can still be made that since 1917, personnel and
equipment from Devens have participated in every military conflict.
